59 Employers Hold Hiring Event for Winnipeg Newcomers

Organizations in Winnipeg are cooperating to create an exhibition to provide newcomers and introduction to Winnipeg' job market under the title Manitoba Newcomer Hiring Event on March 7, 2023, at the RBC Convention Centre, Winnipeg.

This episode features the Honourable Jon Reyes, Minister of Labour and Immigration. Reyes talked about the reason for his presence at the Manitoba Newcomer Hiring Event and the necessity of the exhibition for newcomers. He said that, in his capacity as Minister of Labour and Immigration, he always strives to provide the requirements that facilitate the integration and stability of newcomers in the city.

“Civic Platform” also spoke to Amie Membreño, Manager of Employment Services, Immigrant Centre Manitoba. She said that newcomers have many challenges that they must overcome at the beginning to get jobs, but in this exhibition, we provided some jobs that do not require many requirements so that job seekers can find suitable opportunities with their language abilities and lack of Canadian experience. She added most jobs in this hiring event offer a training period for them to learn how to do these jobs.

In this episode, too, we hosted Carmen Ferris, Director of Operations, at Essential Skills Manitoba. Ferris said that they were surprised by the turnout of over 2000 to this exhibition, as we work hard to receive all applications and work to hire them, but if you are not lucky today, you will gain knowledge of many organizations that you may apply for in the future when they have available jobs.
