Blood Donation for Freedom
In this episode of Vancouver Nights, host Majid Mahichi speaks with Behzad Abdi from the Tri-City Iraniam Cultural Society about the upcoming "Blood Donation for Freedom" event.
This community-driven event is scheduled for September 16, 2023, on Mahsa Day, marking a day of compassion, unity, and support for those who need it most. Through this initiative, Greater Vancouver is not only contributing to the local healthcare system but also making a global impact by recognizing the universal value of freedom and life.
The event exemplifies the spirit of compassion and support for a worthy cause. In a world where individuals in some regions, like Iran, are fighting for their freedom and lives, the Greater Vancouver community, in collaboration with the TriCities Iranian Cultural Society, is rallying together to make a difference. This heartfelt campaign encourages residents of Greater Vancouver to roll up their sleeves and donate blood to help those in need. By doing so, they are symbolizing their solidarity with individuals who are facing immense challenges in their pursuit of freedom and justice.
Blood donation is a selfless act that saves lives, and in the context of "Blood Donation for Freedom," it takes on a profound significance. Every drop of donated blood represents a gesture of hope, resilience, and unity in the face of adversity. It sends a powerful message that the people of Greater Vancouver, along with the TriCities Iranian Cultural Society, stand in solidarity with those who are striving for a better future.
To participate in this event, you can create an account at blood.ca/pfl. Once you have an account, select 'partners' from the menu, then select 'join an existing team' and start entering 'Tri-City Iranian Culture Society Parners for Life' (it will appear in a drop-down list). Select that and use 'team bookings' to schedule your appointment.
Canadian Blood Services operates a mobile service available throughout the Vancouver area. They also operate blood donation centres in Greater Vancouver, including one at 4750 Oak Street in South Cambie, another at 888 Dunsmuir St (2nd floor) in downtown Vancouver, and a third at 2150 Western Pkwy #207, Vancouver.
Together, we can make a lasting impact and demonstrate the true meaning of unity and freedom.
