Civic Compass: Arrival Edition - Immigration Consultant Gives Advice on Meeting the Challenges
Exploring immigration policies are crucial civic issues explored in this video. As the number of newcomers on the tourist visa increases, the need for explaining Immigration processes is even more significant than ever before.
For many newcomers, navigating the system is challenging due to language barriers. It is well known that after arriving in Canada, many newcomers' family relationships break down or interpersonal relationship challenges surface. The first years of adjustment and adaptation sometimes cause the families to disregard the children and youth's need for family support. There are existing resources for individuals to attend workshops and seminars to learn new coping strategies.
Poran Poregbal and Samira Gholami, as the volunteer hosts for this program, talked to Thomas Tofigh, an immigration consultant. In this conversation, Poran and Samira ask their guest about his view on the challenges of immigration considering the rules and regulations. Thomas Tofigh offered great suggestions and recommended:
· Those interested in applying for any visa must first check with the Canadian government websites as they provide updated and helpful information.
· When choosing immigration consultants, individuals should check to see if these consultants are registered and licensed according to Canadian norms.
· That newcomers join or inquire about information about settlement and the requirements for documentation from the numerous programs offered in various cities.
Poran and Samira encouraged newcomers to pay attention to the information government agencies and programs share.
Thomas said that in his experience, women generally adjust to their communities sooner and better. According to Thomas, while some men have professional work back home, they may have a challenging time finding a related position in Canada.
Poran highlights the need for couples to understand the challenges of family relations and the shift in the role of partners.
Tofigh explains how changes in immigration policies may influence personal decisions to migrate to Canada. Tofigh explains that, for example, the skilled worker conditions have always confused people.
Samira furthermore asks how the current tourist visa may be changed to permanent residency. Samira mentions that individuals must make informed decisions before starting the migration process and applying for the proper travel documents.
In summary, the discussion centers on immigration challenges, addressing newcomers' complexities and offering practical advice from an immigration consultant. The hosts stress the importance of accessing reliable information and fostering ongoing dialogue on immigration-related civic issues.
