Civic Platform: Effective online strategies for Winnipeg job seekers
Most jobs today require that you apply online. Many employers use an application called the Applicant Tracking System, a computer system for quickly determining which of the online applicants fit the basic criteria for the job being considered.
In this episode of "Civic Platform", journalist Zuher Almusre joins the weekly online course put on by Manitoba Start in Winnipeg entitled Strategies for Applying Online – Creating Professional Resumes that are a approved by the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). This online course teaches newcomers how to successful apply online while avoiding common mistakes that can put them out of the running for a job.
This episode of "Civic Platform" features Yalcin Tosun, a Career Coach/Facilitator at Manitoba Start. He stresses the need to understand the requirements of the job you want, and he explains how to build a resume that clearly matches them by highlighting your skills, experience and academic background. One example for finding success is to use key words in your resume that the computer will pick up as essential to the job under consideration: This is an important factor in being chosen for an interview.
He covers a number of success strategies in this course. For newcomers and others new to the job market, this course is essential to getting a job today.
