Computers for Life is a Free Computer Class for Winnipeg Newcomers

تقدم الترند مايندز دورات مجانية لتعليم أساسيات الحاسوب للاجئين والمهاجرين إلى مقطعة مانيتوبا. وذلك بهدف تطوير المهارات العملية التي يحتاجون إليها في سوق العمل. ولكي تضاف الى سيرتهم الذاتية عند التقديم على وظائف 

حصص مجانية للمبتدئين على يد نخبة من المعلمين الأكفاء. الذين يتحدثون مختلف اللغات لكي تسهل على الطلاب فهم المنهج العملي. فتجد حصص بالغة العربية والانجليزية والاوكرانية والصينية وغيرها الكثير من اللغات. فالبرنامج يدعم توظيف المترجمين إذا لزم الأمر لأي لغة يفضلها الطالب 

الصحفي زهير المصري استضاف جريس ايديس المدير التنفيذي لالتيرند مايندز وقالت نحن محظوظين جدا خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية بالحصول على تمويل من الادارة الفدرالية لعلوم الإبتكار والتنمية الإقتصادية لبرنامج الحاسوب من أجل الحياة , حيث نقدم دورات مجانية لتعليم أساسيات الحاسوب للأشخاص الذين لايمتلكون أي خبرات سابقة ولم يستخدموا الحاسوب من قبل, فعلى الرغم من إستخدامهم لهواتفهم يوميا إلا أن الفرصة لم تتسنى لهم لمعرفة كيفية استخدام الحاسوب الذي أصبح اليوم من ضرورات الحياة ويستخدم في معظم الشركات والمدارس والجامعات. الحاسوب من أجل الحياة فرصة للمهاجرين لتطوير مهاراتهم للحصول على وظائف 

وأضافت جريس: لايوجد معايير خاصة لتكون ضمن هذا الدورة فهي متاحة للجميع لمن لديه إقامة دائمة باستثناء المهاجرين الاوكرانيين الذين لم يحصلوا على الاقامة الدائمة بعد. مايجعل هذه الدورة مميزة أن جميع من يكمل المستوى الأول والذي يستغرق شهراً من الزمن يحصل على حاسوب مجاني.. في أغلب الاحيان الأطفال في المزل لديهم حواسيب خاصة بهم ولايتسنى للأباء استخدامها بسبب حاجتهم لها أغلب الوقت لإنجاز مهامهم وواجباتهم المدرسية لذلك وجدنا أنه من المهم ان يكون هناك اجهزة خاصة للأباء داخل المنزل

 
من خلال هذه البرامج المجانية يتمكن اللاجئون والمهاجرون من تطوير مهارتهم العملية ويصبحوا مؤهلين لسوق العمل الكندي 

Altered Minds Inc. offers free computer fundamentals classes for refugees and immigrants in Manitoba. The program supports newcomers in acquiring functional abilities they will need in the job market. 

The teachers, who run these lessons, are qualified in computer fundamentals and are multilingual, making it easier for students to understand the practical curriculum. Examples of supported languages include Arabic, English, Ukrainian, and Chinese. Additionally, the program provides interpreters for any languages not supported. 

In an interview with U Multicultural TV reporter, Zuher Amusre, Executive Director and Founder of Altered Minds, Grace Eidse, explained, "We are very fortunate during the past five years to obtain funding from the Federal Department of Innovation Sciences and Economic Development for the 'Computers for Life' program, where we offer free courses on computer basics to people who do not have any previous experience and have not used a computer before. 

Although many are familiar with cell phones, it takes an entirely different set of skills to become computer literate, said Eidse. She continues, noting computers have become a necessity of life, used in most companies, schools and universities and 'Computers for Life' allows immigrants to develop the skills they need in the workforce. 

The program is available to everyone with permanent residence, with the first level taking one month. Eidse said this course is unique. Anyone who completes the first level will receive a free computer. This can be a game changer even if a household already has a computer, freeing time for students to complete their school tasks and homework. 

Even basic computer literacy can provide the skills to create an email address, fill out forms online, and complete job applications, ensuring newcomers can maintain financial stability.
