Eastern Charlotte Council Highlights For June 2023

The Eastern Charlotte Council held their June 2023 regular council meeting in St. George at Magaguadavic
Place. All council members, including Assistant Clerk Chris McKinnon and CEO Jason Gaudet, were in attendance.

To kickstart the meeting, the council sought a motion to accept the agenda for the night. Councillor Lee proposed the motion, which was seconded by Councillor Tidd. The motion passed unanimously, allowing the meeting to proceed smoothly.

Next on the agenda was the adoption of the minutes from the previous council meetings. The council reviewed the May 17, 2023 regular meeting minutes, and Councillor Tidd moved to approve them. The motion was seconded by Councillor Lee, and after a brief discussion, the motion passed unanimously. Following this, the council also approved the special meeting of council on June 6th and the June 13th closed meeting of council minutes.

Anne Dewar made a presentation to council on alumni events. Dewar presented her proposal for the Mariners Music Festival, seeking permission to have a bar on the premises at Fundy High School on August 12th. She also requested an extension of the event's closing time to 11:00pm. While the council couldn't provide immediate approval, they encouraged Dewar to submit a formal letter outlining her plans for further consideration.

Proceeding to the department reports, CEO Jason Gaudet presented the general government report for the month of May. He highlighted the progress made in recreation areas, housing developments, water and wastewater projects, and ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Additionally, Councillor Wayne MacQuarrie presented the public works report, highlighting ongoing maintenance work, and Councillor Adam Hatt provided an update on recreational activities.
