HUB Online Network Presents a Town hall with MP Brad Vis

The local Member of Parliament Brad Vis stopped in for a townhall event at the HUB Online Network, where he sat down with Civic Journalist Gareth Smart. There were some questions sent in from the public, some questions from Gareth and even questions from the live chat feed.

Mr.Vis was recently appointed as shadow minister for housing federally, and has taken the position seriously in Parliament speaking up for low income housing across the country and in his riding of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon. Brad has also been busy setting up and handing in petitions on specific abortion rights, Indo-Canadian and Chinese-Canadian issues that are prevalent in his area as well. Mr.Vis shares his going on's from parliament on his Facebook and Twitter pages, and is also covered on the HUB Online Networks twice weekly news show.

When asked on his take in regards to the Ashcroft Terminal (the Terminal has been under public scrutiny for blocking an illegal train crossing to reach the Ashcroft Slough) Brad said that he sees no reason to step in and change the railways act at this time. The Terminal is doing a good job at bringing economic development to the area, and crossing the train tracks is unsafe at best and illegal at worst.

When asked about faster rural broadband services which have been on both the federal and provincial agendas for a while now. Brad said that he is always trying to move forward but there has been no major progress on that topic at this time since we last spoke.

When asked about what has been happening in Parliament over the summer, Mr.Vis shared his disappointment with the current leadership and its prorogation of government, and the dodging's of the WE Charity questions taking place. "Canadians need leadership and support now. The tactics being taken take away from helping the people of the country at a time when they really need it".

Brad was asked about how the new Conservative leader is doing, and he seemed to be happy with the change from Andrew Scheer to Erin O'Toole.

Mr.Vis shared his support for the Legions across the country that have been hit hard with all of the current issues in the country at the moment. With poppy sales possibly not happening this year due to the Coronavirus, Brad showed a new funding resource, the Legion face mask; that can be purchased to "show your support for the current soldiers and veterans across the country".
