Additionally, her philanthropic efforts have supported cultural events, mentorship programs, and initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between the Iranian diaspora and the broader Vancouver community.

Parsoua introduced her mother’s book, highlighting a poignant passage:"I need to love myself and be happy with my life before I can love someone else," capturing the essence of Katayoun’s philosophy on self-discovery and empowerment.

Honoring Katayoun Shirzad’s Legacy poetic tribute was read, illustrating her resilience through war, displacement, and personal loss.Her dedication to community-building and the Iranian cultural identity in exile was acknowledged.

She was likened to a tall cedar tree, standing firm through life’s storms while providing strength and guidance to others.

Majid Mahichi, a longtime friend and literary figure, spoke about Katayoun’s role in shaping Persian literature abroad and how her words have bridged generations and cultures.

Sherry Soltani shared her reflections on Katayoun’s activism and philanthropy, emphasizing her tireless efforts in supporting immigrant women and artists.

Paniz Pasha recounted reading Journey of the Heart in the mountains of British Columbia, reflecting on how stories like Katayoun’s remind us of the sacrifices behind freedom and belonging.

Shiva Shams, a distinguished performer, presented a Sufi-inspired dance, blending Persian folklore and whirling movements, symbolizing the unity of body, mind, and soul.

Mehrdad FarrokhManesh emphasized that change happens through small, consistent efforts rather than grand gestures, urging attendees to continue Katayoun’s mission of empowerment and cultural preservation.
