New Brunswick Drops All COVID-19 Restrictions
New Brunswick has lifted all COVID-19 restrictions, including masking, social distancing, capacity limits and isolation requirements. Vaccine rollout and testing will continue in the province while New Brunswickers adjust to living with COVID-19, including new guidelines that allow asymptomatic people who test positive to forgo isolation altogether.
While protective measures are no longer mandatory, New Brunswick Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Russell encourages New Brunswickers to continue using what they’ve learned over the past two years of the pandemic when they are in vulnerable settings or in the company of compromised people.
Public health will continue to monitor for new variants of concern, and there's always the possibility of that restrictions could return.
"Never say never," said Dr. Russell.
A fundraiser for Ukrainian relief will take place in St. George on Tuesday, March 22. “A Night for Ukraine” organized by a group of local volunteers in collaboration with the Multicultural Association of Charlotte County will take place at at Magaguadavic Place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30pm and will feature a potluck dinner as well as single-serve lasagna take-out.
St. George Deputy Mayor Barb Rayner said the idea for the fundraiser stemmed from the feeling of helplessness many of us have felt here in North America watching tragedy take place in Ukraine and wishing we could do more.
"We decided having a fundraiser dinner was the easiest way to do something to raise money," said Rayner.
If you are able to help by making a dish for the potluck, or donating an item for the silent auction, please contact Barb Rayner at 755-2788. We hope to see you there too.
