The recreation complex, a new era for the township “The project itself, from start to finish is going to be about 105 million dollars [...], a lot of the down payment comes from development charges” announces Mike Tarnowski, mayor of the township of Russell. The recreation complex will be located between Embrun and Russell, the township's two largest villages, and will offer a large community hall, three arenas and a swimming pool, in a location conducive to gatherings, close to the already established trail.
An expansion of elementary schools The provincial government has also announced a grant of 15.2 million dollars for the addition of a public elementary school in the municipality. Tarnowski explains that it’s “important to understand, the municipality doesn’t receive that, this was given directly to the school board to build the new school which we’re very excited about”. The mayor is grateful for the assistance provided by the province for the development of infrastructure in the municipality.
