Saint Andrews Mayor Talks Past Year Highlights and Plans for 2020

Town of Saint Andrews Mayor Doug Naish is the featured guest on the premiere episode of "Your Town Matters," where dhe iscussed the previous year's highlights for the town as well as town council's plan for the upcoming 2020 year.

"We had a very good year last year from a budget standpoint," said Naish. "A lot of that was thanks to senior staff who pulled double duty last year. We've resolved that issue with the recruitment of more senior staff. As a result of their diligence managing the budget last year, we ended up with a surplus of over $450,000 last year. That allows us to continue on this council's plan to increase our capital reserve for more infrastructure projects. We've managed to accumulate savings. Our tex base also went up another 2.8%"

Naish went on to highlight plans for Saint Andrews in 2020, including the highly anticipated health centre, plans for improvements to beach destination Katy's Cove, and major improvements to the wharf.

"From a completion point of view, the wellness centre has been amazing, and that's in a huge part thanks to the donation from the Dunn Foundation," said Naish. "It made sense to use infrastructure we already had here that used to be our old bowling alley for the wellness centre. We've also created a fitness centre that goes hand-in-hand with the wellness centre."
