Speaking to City Councillor Kristyn-Wong Tam
In this interview we talk to Ward 13 Toronto City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam about her work as a city councillor and as a representative of Regent Park including her advocacy on the Regent Park Social Development Plan and the Defund the Police initiative.
Councillor Wong-Tam briefly recounts how she, “immigrated from social housing in Hong Kong to social housing in Regent Park, the fabric of the Regent Park community was very familiar to her.” And then goes on to speak about she political activities as a Councillor, how she became involved with Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP). Also, her work on the now failed project of bringing the 2025 Expo, and finally she speaks about Black Lives Matter, Defund the Police, and the broader implications of systemic racism in the Toronto Police.
