Affordable housing was a major concern during the last municipal election, and Landry emphasized the progress made on this front. A key point of concern was the looming threat of U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, which could have serious consequences for local employers like the Port Hawkesbury Paper mill in Point Tupper. While former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a delay in implementation, Landry stressed that the threat remains and could significantly impact businesses and community groups in the region.
