Treaty Ten News - June 10, 2022 - Mayor of Beauval, SK - Nick Daigneault

Mayor Nick Daigneault has been serving the community of Beauval for six years. The driving force was he wanted to work in a position where a real difference could be made long-term. At the heart of this was the resurrection of the economic development corporation, which was then known as Amisk Development. The new formation led to a new re-branded corporation called Beauval Development Incorporated (BDI).

The goal was to pursue opportunities that would grow the economic and business landscape of Beauval. One of the first acquisitions was the purchase of Blueberry Hills Water from a local entrepreneur. This laid the foundation and provided job opportunities and brought in revenue that would go back to community; the advantage of having a municipal owned corporation.

One of the recurring conversations when it comes to Beauval is the fire that burned down the local arena. The arena had an ice rink and a mezzanine which was key for community gatherings. Mayor and council began looking at ways to meet this immediate need. The village office hall provided a temporary place to host functions, however it was time to look at something long-term. Years of planning and hard work led to the building of the BDI Hall/Village Office, which today is the main place to hold community functions when needed. It's a place where we can gather again, whether it's through sport, music, or community events the BDI Hall is the present place available that will meet those needs.

BDI has grown from its early days, now owning a local gym, convenience store and community garden. Mayor Nick Daigneault, council and the BDI board of directors lead Beauval forward where we can grow together for future generations.
