Tri-Cities Federal Election 2025 Candidate: NDP Bonita Zarrillo

Bonita begins by emphasizing the value of strong, nationwide relationships: “Having connections across Canada is important,” she says, noting that collaboration between provinces and communities is key to real progress.

A major focus of her platform is affordable housing. Bonita speaks passionately about the urgent need for secure, accessible housing for individuals and families: “Housing provides stability, safety, and dignity. It’s a fundamental right, not a privilege,” she shares. She’s committed to policies that protect renters, limit corporate landlords, and ensure that new developments serve the people, not just profit.

Bonita also points to the need for investment in local infrastructure, especially in community hubs like Kyle Centre and Westhill. “These spaces must remain welcoming and inclusive, especially for our seniors, youth, and families,” she explains.

She strongly supports public transit expansion, noting that reliable and well-funded transit systems are essential for the environment and working families. “We want people to use more transit,” she says, stressing the importance of securing operational government funding to make it viable long-term.

On the issue of trade and tariffs, Zarrillo is clear: “We need to defend our industry and our water.” Finally, her rallying call is one of empowerment:

“It’s time for the people to take back the economy and to have good-paying jobs,” Zarrillo declares, reaffirming her commitment to stopping corporate greed and putting people first.
