Tri-Cities Federal Election 2025 Candidate: New Democratic Party Laura Dupont
A proud resident of Port Coquitlam for over 25 years, Dupont brings deep local insight and a strong belief in inclusive civic leadership. “Civic leadership is extremely important,” she explains. “Regardless of your priorities or ideologies, you are tasked with taking care of everyone in the community. It’s an important job.”

One of Dupont’s key priorities is addressing the region’s housing crisis. “We need to look at who needs housing in our community and identify the gaps,” she says. She emphasizes the need for more co-op housing, purpose-built rentals, and innovative housing solutions that truly meet the needs of local residents. However, she acknowledges that municipalities face challenges: “Cities have limited ways to raise funding for affordable housing, and that needs to change.”
To lower the cost of living, Dupont supports developing accessible daycare programs. At the same time she says she is in favor of improving support for the arts, and ensuring sustained funding for community-based initiatives. She is particularly energized by the number of young people joining her campaign. “Our youth are crucial to our future,” she says.
Dupont is also focused on fighting inequality. “We’re seeing what’s happening in the U.S., they’re losing their democracy. Democracy really matters,” she warns.
“We will continue to tackle inequality and make sure every day is more affordable,” Dupont promises, reaffirming her commitment to building a fairer, stronger Tri-Cities for all.
