Women. Life. Freedom. Winnipeg Hosts Solidarity Concert for Iran

Women should have full rights anywhere in the world, and no one has the right to control them. Freedom and democracy should be the right of all humanity.

Unfortunately, some countries still rob women of their rights to expression and control their freedom. Iran is one example of that, as Iranian women today suffer persecution, making them call out at the top of their voices, demanding justice and human rights. Winnipeg hosted a concert to support Iranian women, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the University of Winnipeg, titled "Women. Life. Freedom. Solidarity Concert For The People of Iran."

Arian Arianpour is the President of the Iranian Community of Manitoba. Arianpour spoke about the history of the association, its goals, the message it wants to deliver to the Canadian community in Manitoba, and the services it provides to the Iranian community in Winnipeg. Arianpour expressed that the Iranians do not represent the ruling regime in Iran and that they are a people open to the world, accepting others and loving freedom, and they should enjoy intellectual freedom, freedom of choice and expression of opinion like other peoples of the world.

In this episode, too, musicians in Winnipeg joined in expressing their solidarity with the Iranian people. Through their songs and music, they expressed their concern for the struggles Iranians are facing.
