HyLife Launches Direct to Market Products in Neepawa

It’s been a busy week in Neepawa, with local markets, parades, retail launches, a fundraising concert, and a shout-out from Ottawa all taking place.

Better known as a pork processing plant that distributes internationally, HyLife launched its product line at Neepawa-Gladstone Co-op this week.“We’ve just recently made a recommitment to be in the local community,” said Trevor Lizotte, Hylife Senior Director of Sales, “and to serve Manitobans the pork that we create right here in Neepawa.”

According to staff at the retail store, they are seeing a lot of interest and sales, in particular from local residents who work at the plant, who are finally able to purchase the product that they have had a hand in making.

It was also Christmas kick-off weekend in Neepawa, and we spoke to the administrator of ArtsForward about the Glorious Christmas Wish Sale, a shop local craft market, and other activities going on around town. She also highlighted the northern lights special edition cans designed by local artists being launched by the Farmery brewery, which we’ll be hearing more about in the new year.

One of Neepawa’s newest teachers, Colleen Hallett, has put together a concert featuring her alma mater’s brass ensemble to fundraise for the band boosters. Neepawa’s music program has been growing in recent years and while the concert will help to support the middle school and high school bands, she also mentions that they would welcome the donation of gently used musical instruments as they are experiencing a shortage.

Finally, Neepawa MP Dan Mazier took the opportunity during Question Period this week to stand up and highlight the publishers of the Neepawa Banner and Press as “pillars of local journalism.” In doing so, he showed strong support for all journalists working in rural areas.
