Local Insights, National Goals: Halifax Experts and Activists Spotlight Strategies for Equity and Anti-Racism

The Canadian Network for Equity and Racial Justice (CNERJ) organized a community gathering titled "Advancing Equity and Justice" in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The gathering aimed to foster discussions on anti-racism, decoloniality, and equity, providing a platform for community members to engage in meaningful conversations.

The event began with a respectful land acknowledgement, honoring the Mi'kmaq people as the traditional custodians of the land. Following this, the event moderator provided an overview of the day's agenda, setting the stage for a rich discussion on systemic barriers and actionable strategies for advancing decoloniality and equity.

The forum featured a panel of local experts and activists who shared unique insights into the challenges faced by the community, offering pathways to combat discrimination and hate. Though Community Update was not allowed to cover every aspect of the discussion, we observed how each panelist contributed to this vital conversation
