News and Views is a radio program produced by Radio Regent with hosts Ryan, Dylan and Jesse through (www.radioregent.com). They present news impacting on Toronto’s Downtown East. The radio station is based in Regent Park.
This week’s program covered the following stories:
The regent park Wellness Hub to continue running. The Regent Park Community Health Centre hosts three different clinics to serve you. Go to https://regentparkchc.org/covid-19-vaccine-clinic/ for details. People with no immigration status, no fixed address and or no identification are welcome.
Officer constable Michael Juma, 49, 14 year Toronto Police officer has been suspended. The officer crashed his vehicle while impaired and then refused to stop for police. The parked car he struck was near the Shuter and Parliament streets area. Juma has been charged his next court date is set for May, 2nd 2023.
The Regent Park neighborhood Community Officers hosted a quarterly meeting https://www.tps.ca/. The meeting was to discuss policing, neighborhood involvement and other important topics. It was held at 150 River Street Monday March 27th.
The hosts of News and Views talked about how the Daily Bread Food Bank is running food banks every week in the city. Location and information at https://www.dailybread.ca/. You do need to be registered to have access to their services, but it is very easy to register online.
Host Ryan gave a special shout out to local Regent Park student at Regent Park Public School who had a very strong showing at 2023 Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals in Thunder Bay. Anna Vurma U14 raced up into the U16 girls’ category and finished in the top 10.
