Regent Park Neighbourhood Town Hall: Open Dialogue with Councillor Chris Moise

On September 24th, 2024, Regent Park residents gathered at the Community Centre for a Neighbourhood Town Hall hosted by Councillor Chris Moise. The event, held from 6 to 8 PM in the Multipurpose Room, brought together key stakeholders, including members of the Toronto Police, MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam, and City staff. Regent Park TV was on-site to capture the lively discussions as local issues took center stage.

Fred Alvarado – Local Journalism Initiative

Councillor Moise shared important updates on several pressing matters, including the Downtown East Action Plan Reset, new encampment protocols, and initiatives like rental demolition compensation and community safety improvements. He also emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance pedestrian safety, expand the Bike Share program, and drive various neighbourhood projects forward. Moise urged residents to get involved in shaping these initiatives.

The event’s open mic session provided a valuable opportunity for residents to voice their thoughts and concerns directly to the Councillor and city representatives. Issues like the Regent Park Social Development Plan Refresh and other community matters sparked discussion, fostering an atmosphere of transparency and collaboration.

Town Hall meetings like this serve as a vital platform for community engagement. They empower residents to connect with their elected officials and work together on issues affecting the neighbourhood. These discussions help inspire collective action, leading to tangible improvements in local safety, development, and the overall well-being of Regent Park.
