Toronto Public Health unveils Strategic Plan 2024-2028

On July 8, Toronto Public Health (TPH) unveiled its new Strategic Plan for 2024-2028, which was officially adopted at the Toronto Board of Health meeting. This plan will serve as TPH’s guiding framework for the next four years, ensuring the continued delivery of impactful interventions for Toronto’s diverse population of over three million residents.
The Strategic Plan, shaped by extensive feedback from Toronto residents, community partners, TPH staff, and City divisions, sets forth five key priorities:
1. 1. Strengthening health protection
2. 2. Promoting well-being
3. 3. Supporting positive mental health
4. 4. Advancing health equity
5. 5. Nurturing a positive workplace culture.
Under the leadership of Councillor Chris Moise (Toronto Centre), Chair of the Board of Health, and Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, the plan takes into account recent population health data, public consultation insights, and lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Councillor Moise stated: “The Strategic Plan is an important roadmap guiding Toronto Public Health over the next four years. It reflects the city’s ever-evolving population health needs and ushers us to address challenges through the social determinants of health and a health equity lens. I look forward to focusing our collective efforts in carrying out these key public health priorities to improve the health and wellbeing of Torontonians,” Moise said at the Board of Health meeting.
The plan aims to address the city's evolving health needs through a lens of health equity and social determinants of health.
