Schreiber Public Library Quilt and Basket Auction

Every year the Schreiber Public Library hosts their annual Quilt and Basket Raffle Auction Show. It's a riot of colours, patterns, stitches, and beautifully crafted baskets. Basket items are donated from all the businesses In Schreiber and carefully placed and wrapped for people to purchase tickets for and win.

This year, the heart of the show was undoubtedly the five dozen quilts displayed all around the Schreiber Recreational Centre. The Recreational Centre played host to an array of quilts, each one a testament to the skill and dedication of local artisans as well as members from the “Patch of Friends” quilting group.

Traditional designs mingled with modern flair, creating a captivating display that reflected the evolving artistry of the Schreiber community. Visitors marveled at the intricate details, from hand-stitched quilts portraying local landmarks to contemporary pieces pushing the boundaries of the craft.

In addition to the quilts, the show also featured a stunning collection of handmade baskets. Woven with precision and care, these baskets showcased the rich heritage of craftsmanship in Schreiber. These baskets were up for grabs during the auction, participants would purchase tickets for one dollar each and by the end of each round one ticket would be randomly selected and whoever has that winning ticket gets to take home the basket as well at the donated contents that were in them.

Marjorie House, a local women's shelter and a contributor of the Quilt show, also comes ever year to show their support and dedication for the event. About half of the money gets donated to Marjorie House to help support them because of funding cuts from the government.

Be sure to come to the event next year because there will be more quilts and baskets to win!
