Terrace Bay Council Meeting for August 2, 2022

The Terrace Bay council meeting for August 2nd opened with the approval and adoption of the minutes of the last and special council meeting in July. On the agenda:

• A summary of the special meeting regarding the changes to the Hydro Bay development bylaw was presented by CAO John Hall and the changes were voted on and accepted. A bylaw to approve an offer to purchase a portion of the land to the west of the cenotaph on Highway 17 went before council. No discussion over what the use would be but it is currently zoned institutional and can be changed to commercial. 
• A revision to the procurement policy was agreed upon and a bylaw as such was passed.
• The Public works report highlighted a training opportunity for supervisors and was approved by council in order to implement best practice across the department. There was also an update on proposed road repairs in areas where service deliveries have been compromised due to aging infrastructure or repair work. It was agreed carry out repairs needed.
• Community development report focused on the heating problems at the Cultural Centre. Repairs will need to done to bring the oil burner up to current standards.
• Special projects co-ordinator report highlighted the need for grant applications that will have positive impact on the community. One of the projects needing funding is a proposal for an outdoor recreational area as brought forward to council by Chris Dube. Council supported the application to the Ontario Trillium Fund. Other applications are still waiting approval and some had been denied. 
• General dispersements for June 2022 were approved.
• Outstanding bylaws for this meeting were approved followed by question period.  Delegates  from the Hydro Bay residents association had a few quick questions which were quickly resolved and the meeting returned to an in camera session before adjournment.
