Block Talk is the newest show on Regent Park TV by youth involved with Focus Media Arts Centre. Hosted by Regent Park youth under the age of 16 years, the show features a group of Regent Parkers who go out in to the community each week to talk to people about various topics. The show is also about how this demographic of youth see the world. The interviews they capture are used to discuss their uncensored perspectives on the topics. In this second episode, in the wake of COP 26 (the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference), Block Talk discusses climate change and global warming.

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.

The youth got some very interesting answers from the Regent Park community. The Block Talk then discussed all of these interesting responses regarding climate change. They spoke about how the glaciers are melting, CO2 emissions and that recycling can help decrease the effects of global warming and climate change. The Youth Collective were unanimous in their belief that we all have to do more to save earth. They understood and discussed that this is our World and we have to step up and take responsibility. They spoke about the rising water levels and about fires and floods in various parts of the world due to global warming and climate change. Something needs to be done in order to reduce the effects of this phenomena, and we, the humans of the world should be the driving force.
