Immigrant Centre Helps Newcomers Achieve their Potential
The beginning is always difficult, especially for newcomers. Everything is new for them in Winnipeg, but the most difficult task is to get an organization that they trust and that provides them with what they need in a simple way.
This episode will present the Immigrant Centre, the organization that receives newcomers and offers them a variety of services to help them integrate and adjust to Winnipeg. The organization, according to their website:
- Provides customized services with compassionate people in a safe environment
- Shares professional knowledge and expertise
- Builds a vibrant community for us all
The twenty-second of "Civic Platform" features Roselyn Advincula, Settlement Director, Immigrant Centre - Winnipeg. Advincula tells us about the history of Immigrant Centre, vision, and mission of the organization to the community.
Advincula talk about the various programs to serve the newcomers. Also, she adds about the events that the organization holds periodically for the newcomers on employment, language, and many other activities. Finally, Advincula mention the workshops that contribute greatly to explaining life to the newcomers and facilitating their movement in the city.
In this episode, too, "Civic Platform" interviewed some employees, who talked about their experience and their role in the success of the program, and how they do their best to help the newcomers to integrate as quickly as possible into Canadian society. Also, they gave them many important advices and ideas for their new life.
