The Arab Orchestra Opens Doors to Build New Relationships for the Arab Community in Winnipeg
Music is the language that everyone understands. So, we don't need an interpreter to understand the delivered messages. Winnipeg hosts the Canadian Arab Orchestra for the first time to gather the Arab community, rekindle memories of Arab cultural heritage, and introduce the second generation to the culture to which it belongs.
This episode of "Civic Platform" features Lamees Audeh, Co-Founder and Music Director of the Canadian Arabic Orchestra.
Audeh tells us about the history of the Canadian Arab Orchestra, the idea of its establishment, and how she and her husband Wafa Al Zaghal gathered her team of musicians to perform across Canada to link the Arab community together to settle and integrate. In Winnipeg, for the first time, she promised the fans they would return for another performance. With the continual growth of the Arab community in Winnipeg, there must be more cultural Arab activities to help them in their new life and open doors for them to build new relationships and friendships.
Audeh added the importance of regularly bringing children to these occasions to learn about their rich history and culture and to enjoy proudly the Arabic music their parents grew up with.
"Civic Platform" interviewed many participants who expressed their happiness to be in this event and stressed its necessity for them to be happier in Winnipeg.
