Youth, Caregivers & Elders Learning Circle in Winnipeg

In this program, U-Multicultural reporter, Zuher Almusre, speaks with leaders of the Fearless R2W non-profit organization in North Winnipeg that is an indigenous-led and helps children, youth and elders. They work on many fronts through teaching circles, advocacy, and helping youth who age 'out of care' from the foster program of Family and Child Services of Manitoba, including helping them re-unite with their families.

This "Civic Platform" episode features Mary Burton, Executive Director, Fearless R2W Inc. and Michael Redhead Champagne, Co-founder of the organization. Burton and Champagne spoke about the startup of the organization,  the programs, their mission, and the goals that they aspire to achieve in serving not only the indigenous people of the area, but also all those who seek their help.

Burton also explained the need to take care of young people, as they are the strength of society, and they are currently going through great challenges such as unemployment, homelessness, and many other problems. They need help to become self-reliant and dream of a better future for themselves and their families.

Burton emphasized the confidentiality of her clients' information and that she works with her team to maintain their privacy and not share their information with any party that is not concerned with solving their problems. She explained that it is important that clients have that reassurance, so they have no fear nor shame.
