(Sent Back) Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council to Host Business Expo
The Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council is set to host a variety of council events for the month of March. A highlight will be the Metis business expo on March 24 from 11am to 4pm on March 24 at the Lion’s Gate Hall in Alcona. This business expo is designed to promote economic development within the Metis community and provide networking opportunities. First Nation and Inuit business owners are welcome to sign up to be vendors, but as capacity is limited, priority will be given to Metis-owned businesses. Registration for a table is free, and vendors who participate will be given a free take-out fish and chip dinner. Registration for businesses close March 3rd. Contact Tony Muscat at tonymuscat@rogers.ca to see how you can apply to be a vendor.
Another event the Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council is promoting, is the play First Metis Man of Odessa that runs until March 2nd at the Five Points Theatre. The Council was invited to attend opening night and encourage all to support the production to help promote local theatre and diverse productions in the area. The play is a heartwarming tale of two cultures coming together to show community is stronger together when we fight together.
The Metis council will also be holding a free Easter event on March 17 for Metis children to attend to receive chocolates delivered from the Easter Bunny. Registration for the event has filled up fast and is now closed.
Of course the council is holding their monthly foodbank the last two weekends of the month. Registration for the foodbank will be sent out via email and posted to the council’s Facebook page. Citizens are encouraged to make sure they have their email address up to date with the MNO to ensure they are on the email list.
