As the Metis Nation of Ontario makes its way forward with self government, Vice Chair Sharon Cadeau wants to remind citizens that we are in a unique time in Metis history. A history that she has long since been a part of.  Sharon advocated for a Community Council in the western part of Region Eight and became the founding President of the Credit River Métis Council in 2003. In 2005 she was elected as Regional Councillor for Region Eight. She is serving her third term as Vice Chair of the Provisional Council of the MNO.

As a former by-law officer for the Region of Peel, Vice Chair Cadeau is excited to be part of taking the MNO into the future of self government.  One of the main issues she’s running on is implementing a constitution for the Metis Nation of Ontario, which is currently the only province without one.

While Vice Chair Cadeau wants to take the next steps, she is adamant that during her time as vice chair she has always been and will be an advocate for keeping local Metis council’s the voice of the people. “You have to look at things how citizens would look at things. What would they want? Those are the important things moving forward.”

Vice Chair Cadeau asks voters, “Who is better suited, somebody that has been there for a long time that understands everything? Or should we be changing it up for a new person at this time?”
