Online Council -- Small town of Saint Andrews leads way
The little seaside town of Saint Andrews is leading the way for smaller municipalities in its response to COVID-19 by holding live-streamed council meetings. Saint Andrews Town Clerk Paul Nopper and Mayor Doug Naish are also continuing to do pubic updates on the novel coronavirus throughout the week at the local television station, CHCO-TV.
The town is collaborating with the Saint Andrews Kiwanis Club to organize a "Free Home Delivery Service, as well as check-in for vulnerable and self-isolating residents. Guy Groulx is one of the lead organizers of this volunteer-run goodwill effort, and says he hopes over communities will reach out for help so that they can adopt similar responses to COVID-19 in their regions.
At a press conference in Fredericton, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Russell explains why New Brunswick currently has done the lowest number of COVID-19 testing per capita and is only just beginning to test for community spreading. Premier Blaine Higgs says New Brunswick will tighten its borders if President Donald Trump goes through with loosening COVID-19 restrictions in the United States, despite Trump being advised against this by health experts.
