The Record Episode 2
In the second episode of "The Record," on Telile Community Television in Arichat, Civic Journalist Jake Boudrot talks about the recent federal government announcement surrounding the mackerel bait fishery quota and the continued closure of the commercial mackerel fishery. Jake then speaks with Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway about recent funding announced for small craft harbours in the area and the potential for more funding in the near future.
He examines the cases of two missing men from the area, Derek Kruger and Cody MacDonald, who have been missing for months and whose families and friends continue to search and have put out pleas to the public for their return.
This second episode of "The Record" also discusses provincial funding for local groups, projects and programs surrounding food security; students taking construction programs at the Nova Scotia Community College; getting a reaction from Port Hawkesbury Paper about funding for young people training as apprentices; and this episode talks about modular homes for health care workers in Port Hawkesbury and Guysborough County.
A virtual healthcare pilot project to provide relief to overburdened emergency departments that included Strait-Richmond Hospital in Evanston is discussed, as well as the case of a worker at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish who was fired for inappropriately accessing the healthcare records of thousands of people and is potentially facing charges from the RCMP for the security breach. Nova Scotia Health explains what happened and the next steps in the process.
