New Neepawa Health Centre Making Progress But Behind Schedule
On October 24th, Prairie Mountain Health held a public meeting to update Neepawa and area about the status of the new Neepawa Health Centre, which was first announced in December of 2021. Along with representatives from the regional health authority, who discussed issues of staffing and the process of transition from the old facility to the new, there was also a representative from the architectural firm to share the updated layout of the new facility as well as interior and exterior photos of the construction to show what has and has not been completed.
Attendees were given an opportunity to ask questions at the event, and at the forefront of many people's minds was getting the province to reconsider installing a CT scanner in the new facility. While that isn't currently part of the plan, they confirm that there is, in fact, space allocated in the facility for the scanner if that decision should change.
Originally slated to complete construction in 2025, the facility is now expected to be handed over to Prairie Mountain Health in mid-2026 and open to its first patients in late 2026 or early 2027.
