The Planning Committee meeting brought key updates on strategic planning, funding decisions, and advancements in hybrid meeting technology to foster greater community engagement.

During the strategic planning segment, Michael Rosenberg provided insights on the development of the committee’s terms of reference. These guidelines will define the structure, roles, and responsibilities within the committee, with a finalized version expected to be brought to the Planning Committee for approval in the coming weeks. This document will lay the groundwork for improved coordination and future development.

On the funding side, a few important proposals have been put forward, such as those supporting administrative coordination and communication efforts for Regent Park TV (RPTV). These initiatives will strengthen RPTV's capacity to share SDP updates with the community. However, three key proposals remain under review, including plans for community-wide report backs and the recruitment of new members to ensure diverse representation.

A critical highlight of the meeting was the need to improve hybrid meeting technology. Deany Peters, emphasized the challenges with current meeting situation and proposed purchasing an Owl camera to enhance virtual participation, particularly for seniors and others facing barriers to attending in person. The communications workgroup strongly backed this initiative, recognizing its importance for fostering inclusion in future SDP activities.

Additionally, the meeting touched on efforts to shape the organizational culture within the SDP. Training chats and the creation of an incident form were proposed as measures to encourage open communication. The shaping culture committee plans to meet bi-weekly to take this initiative further.

In conclusion, Regent Park SDP remains committed to strategic growth, equitable funding decisions, and improving accessibility for all community members.
