April council meeting started off with the official announcement of the appointment of Douglas Sales, a former councillor, being brought back to fill the seat of Kevin Mullins who is now the Mayor of Schreiber.

• Mayor Mullins then thanked residents for their show of support for the poster protest that was organized to draw awareness to a proposal by the city of Thunder Bay of  possible cuts to emergency medical services in surrounding areas including Schreiber, Terrace Bay and many others.
• Schreiber Media Centre was contacted to produce a video highlighting the concerns of residents and have it made available on social media along with signed petitions from members of the affected communities.
• First item on the agenda was approval of the minutes for the March meeting and the special meeting held on the first week of April.
• Council expenditures pertaining to the water treatment plant were approved.
• New Parking tickets have to be printed and that item was carried.
• The delay for the submission of the Community Safety and Well Being Plan was approved as it still has more work to be done.
• Bank debits for the month of February and March and cheques issued for that period were approved and ratified.
• A councillor will be sent to Thunder Bay to participate in a protest outside the city hall with other municipalities in support of the EMS cuts.
• The township has entered into an agreement with the village of Rossport to provide fire services to that community.
• The revision to payment of expenses for councillors travelling to events was approved.
• The Adjustment committee proposal was approved.Department reports and committee board minutes were up next.
• Monetary reserves needs to be addressed as part of the next budget meeting.
• There was a request to restore and update the storage car at the discovery centre to prepare it for the opening later this year.
• A summary of the recreation committee reviewed the disappointment of the virtual winter carnival which was mainly due to covid restrictions.
• Beautification committee held their first meeting of this year and submitted their ideas, including a plan to repaint the walls of the outdoor arena.
• Ideas for improving the downtown Trash bins and cleaning up the town centre were thrown around with hopefully some action on that front.
• Fire Chief Jan Morrison submitted his report including a compliance report for the new year and a recommendation to train volunteers in Schreiber in light of the fire school closures.
• The waste water treatment report highlight some areas of concern, especially in regards to budgeting for upgrades that will need to be implemented.

Question period was the next item on the agenda but unfortunately at that point the internet shutdown and no further information was streamed bring the meeting to a halt for the public.
