Charity Groups and COVID-19

On April 6th show the new COVID 19 numbers world wide last Friday were: total cases 1,015,630 total deaths 53,016 total serious 33,709 total recovered 207,01. Today our global numbers are: Total cases  1,342,331 total dead 74,470 serious cases 39,480 and total recovered 278,607. In B.C there were 63 new cases over the weekend.

The Equality Project in Cache Creek is still going strong during COVID-19. The Equality Project is a group that helps the less fortunate in in our area, but providing meals three days a week, as well as toiletries, cloths, and furniture in as needed. They are asking for food donations of non-perishable food as well as peanut butter, cheese, ham eggs etc.

The Elizabeth Fry Society runs our local food bank, and is also looking for donations if possible, but over all the group is doing well and helps out on Thursdays. The E.Fry Society also provides counselling sessions to those dealing with mental health issues.

Gareth talks about what he did over the weekend, which mainly consisted of watching tv shows and playing video games.

Your health is our concern, remember you can see your doctor via telehealth services. You may not be able to go into the clinic, but all the doctors will be able to speak with their doctor(s) over the phone.

Both the local RBC and Interior savings has changed their hours and how they are conducting business, and will be handling any banking that needs to be done over the phone for the time being.

The local pharmacy is asking that you give them a couple of days notice so they can handle all of the prescriptions that are coming in, as well reminder that the pharmacy will be closed on Saturdays until further notice.

Dr.Bonnie Henry assures that there is no PPE (personal protective equipment) shortage for our people on the front line, however there measures being put in place so that doctors do not burn through the PPE to quickly.

The CERB is being rolled out today, but to not be overwhelmed with online sign ups, only certain people can sign up on certain days depending on their birthday.

Gareth replays Jessica’s video where she shows what Ashcroft businesses are open and closed at this time. As well Gareth gives the Cache Creek business list.

The Village of Ashcroft has created “Help” and “OK” signs for the local population tell their neighbors whether they are ok or not.

There is a group of Village Leaders that have come together to create the Ashcroft Cache Creek Helpline, if you need groceries dropped off, your prescriptions picked up, if you need spiritual help or just someone to talk to call the helpline.

David Durksen called in to talk about Interior Health and the over health authority and what they are doing health wise in the interior.

And much more, we will be back tomorrow at 4pm. Thank you for watching.
