The Tri-Cities Iranian community came out on September 18 to voice their concerns over the death of Masha Amini who was killed in Iran while in the custody of the morality police for wearing her hijab incorrectly. While many residents came out to express their support for Masha, many also came out to express their concerns that they have come to Canada to escape oppression and many of the same people who oppressed them in Iran now live in Vancouver. The don't feel free here in Vancouver because they live in fear of retribution that may befall their family back in Iran, from those who live here but do the bidding of the Iranian regime. Many of those in attendance asked for support by asking that viewers contact your MP and let them know that you support the Iranian community and want Canada to do a better job of screening out those that would do the work of the Iranian regime here in Canada. They generally seem to come to Canada with vast amounts of money that they have stolen from the people of Iran that they use to buy their way past conventional screening methods.One of the social media activist explains, "The death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman in Iran, who died in custody for not wearing a headscarf properly, requires worldwide attention.

Protests are taking place in Iran and so they rightly should be.
