ARICHAT - For the first time in nearly a quarter-century, Richmond County's municipal councillors are on track to have the same warden serving them for an entire council term. 

District Four's Amanda Mombourquette was unopposed in her nomination for the warden's position at Monday's regular monthly meeting of Richmond Municipal Council. The mid-term election process followed Mombourquette's first two years as county warden, which came shortly after her victory as a District Four candidate in her inaugural campaign. 

She will now have the opportunity to become the first warden to lead Richmond County for an entire council term since Richie Cotton was first chosen for the position in 1997. John Boudreau, who was chosen as warden at the midway point of the 2004-08 council term, was also selected for the position by his fellow councillors in 2008 and 2010 but passed away in the spring of 2012, five months before he was slated to finish his second straight term on council. 

District Five councillor Brent Sampson, whose northeastern Richmond County constituency borders on the warden's District Four, was unopposed in his nomination for the deputy's spot. The previous Deputy Warden, District Three councillor Melanie Sampson, put forth the nominations for warden and deputy warden at Monday night's meeting.
