Schreiber Council Approves New Water and Sewage Rates
This week's Schreiber Council meeting started with an announcement from the mayor about the recent ice problems at the Arena. Repairs are underway and it is hoped that the arena will be reopened before the year end.
The minutes of the previous meetings were accepted and approved.
Accounts payable and bank debit orders were approved and ratified.
Council approved attendance at the new councillor training workshops in March.
Transfers to the various reserves such as cemetery, fire department and water and sewer were approved.
Supply contract for propane was approved. This will be a one year contract.
The bylaw to set rates for water and sewer fees was proposed and a request for a recorded vote from councillor Bourgeault resulted in the motion being carried.
A project to create aerial imagery of the area will receive some finance from a grant.
A lease agreement between the Terrace Bay figure skating club was approved for use of the arena.
A bylaw to authorize the sale of a lot on Columbia Street was carried.
Approval for councillors and mayor to attend various board meetings was approved.
Treasurer report was submitted and approved.
Director of Operations report was submitted and a discussion arose over repairs to the municipal building heating system. The sewer plant report was also included and a final water treatment plant report will follow.
Special projects report highlighted a grant application to create hampers for seniors.
Budget report mentioned the overspend on the recent dinner event.
Bylaw officer report brought up the issue of off street parking and a new ATV bylaw.
Library board meeting minutes were included and mention of the new outdoor book boxes has been well received.
No big changes in the OPP police report.
The OCWA report was received and a tour of the facilities has been suggested for the new year.
Communication requesting support for expanding the veterinarian school programme in Thunder Bay.
A soccer programme has also been proposed to the city of Thunder Bay and Schreiber will issue a letter of support for the project which will include a new stadium.
A request for a donation from North Shore Harvest Cupboard will be considered.
Finally the schedule for the next meeting in January was confirmed.

Schreiber Community Media est une organisation à but non lucratif créée dans le but de fournir des services de production médiatique et de formation aux habitants de Schreiber et des environs. Schreiber est situé sur la rive nord du lac Supérieur, à environ deux heures à l'est de Thunder Bay.
Le centre multimédia Schreiber se trouve dans la bibliothèque publique de Schreiber et comprend des outils pour l'enregistrement, la diffusion en direct et la post-production audio et vidéo.
