The Cache Creek Drag Races are Coming Back This Summer!
If you haven't heard, Cache Creek Drag Races are coming back! There is a ton of hype surrounding the return of the races, and rightfully so. The race itself spans three days- Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 10th, 11th and 12th. The event has many visitors and spectators, and last year had over 100 racers partaking, making it one of the biggest summer events in Cache Creek.
We spoke to Cache Creek drag race coordinator Dianne Courtlier about what goes into organizing such a huge event and what spectators can expect if they attend. “The biggest change is going to be for this year - we have a couple of exhibition vehicles coming to show up at the event and a couple of nostalgic cars.” Courtlier tells us.
Organizers Diana and Mark Courtlier got started earlier this year. They met with and had approval by the Town Council in December. Last year, they had only five weeks to put it all together.
For Cache Creek, this is all about hosting a fun filled event in a great location: There will be a high level of safety standards and professionalism. Whether you're into cars or not, this is an event that brings people together from all over, who enjoy the performance of fast vehicles, and the thrill of competition.
The organizers also have another other event going on called BC Drag It Challenge. It's the first such event in BC. “We're very excited to be able to host it at Cache Creek," Courtlier explained.
The racers will show up to the first event. They will then take their race car and whatever's in it and drive to the next track. It's a five-day four track event and it ends again back in Cache Creek on the 19th of June. Race events will be held in Lillooet, Prince George and 100 Mile House.
The Courtlers are look for volunteers. Those interested can contact Mark or Diane Courtlier through their Facebook page or email them at bcdragit@gmail.com
