Once a year the Lions Clubs across Manitoba join together for the 'Journey For Sight', a snowmobile ride that travels through all areas of the province raising funds for the Lions Eye Banks and other vision programs such as collecting old eyeglasses for redistribution.

Don Chubey of the Neepawa Lions Club gives NACTV an overview of how the Journey for Sight works. Riders from across the province, many of them Lions Club members but also many volunteers, start from more remote areas of the province and travel from community to community through their region collecting donations for the cause.The ride culminates in a pair of gatherings, one in Winnipeg for Eastern Manitoba and one in Brandon for Western Manitoba. In this area of the province, the riders started in Flin Flon two days ago, making overnight stops in Swan River and Dauphin before travelling the final leg through southern Westman.

In Neepawa, the local Lions Club has partnered with Dairy Queen to provide lunch for the riders and their support staff as they come through town. Dairy Queen has also had a donation box out to collect contributions for the Eye Bank from customers, and will continue to collect for an additional week following the ride. The Prairie Mountain Snow Drifters, the local snowmobile club, has also helped collect donations and sell raffle tickets for the Lions Club, and presented a cheque to the riders during their stop in Neepawa.

After leaving Neepawa, the riders will carry on south to Carberry and then west to Shilo before arriving at their final stop in Brandon.
