Innisfil City Council Shares Orbit Secondary Plan

To most people, Innisfil seems like a sleepy town off the 400 highway that you pass through to go to Innisfil Beach, but this area is a fast growing community in Simcoe County. In 2021, the town had a growth population of 18% since 2016. With the addition of residents and the growing love for small town living, the city has been facing numerous development challenges to keep up with its growth. This has many asking, how does this rural town keep it's small-town charm while being an urban hub for residents and visitors? The City of Innisfil offers us a solution. The Orbit.

The Orbit is the Town of Innisfil's vision for a “complete, cutting-edge community where small town and rural lifestyles are enhanced by the benefits and attributes of urban living."

The Orbit Vision has been developed with both the existing and future communities in mind to ensure that Innisfil grows and continues to be a great place to live. The Orbit was the subject of a recent Innisfil City Council meeting, where they discussed the Orbit Potential and Innovation Plan.

There are five goals that are the heart of the Orbit Potential and Innovation plan: 15-minute neighbourhoods, achieving a sense of place, high quality density, an insightful city and a sustainable community.

While the city develops the Orbit, they assure the community will have the ability to provide ongoing engagement to share their concerns, needs and feedback on the project.

If you have any questions about the Orbit, you can go to the City of Innisfil’s website and find everything you need to know in their building and development section. You can also reach out to Innisfil City Council to share your thoughts and concerns.
