On 2nd March, Innisfil Indian Association, organized an event to celebrate International Women's Day at Innisfil Town Hall. 

Vice President of Innisfil Indian Association, Sudeshna Sahu highlighted the organization's mission to preserve Indian culture, promote inclusivity, and foster community engagement. Sahu shared her personal journey of advocating for women's empowerment, inspired by her upbringing in a supportive family environment in India. The event aimed to create a supportive space for discussions on gender equality and breaking stereotypes, thanking the town of Innisfil, sponsors, and attendees for their support in making the celebration possible.

Former CEO & President, United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, Bhavana Varma expressed her honour in being invited as the key speaker and shared her life story, linking it to the essence of International Women's Day. Born in India, into a family where education and empowerment for women were prioritized, Varma discussed the profound impact of her upbringing on her career and personal beliefs. She narrated her journey from India to Canada, facing challenges as an immigrant, and her eventual fulfillment and success at United Way. Varma touched on the disparities and microaggressions experienced in Canada, contrasting them with her experiences in India. She emphasized the continuous fight against prejudice and the need for solidarity in addressing women's issues, advocating for the empowerment and equal treatment of women and girls as a core message of International Women's Day.

२ मार्च को, इन्निसफिल इंडियन एसोसिएशन ने आंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिन मनाने के लिए इन्निसफिल टाउन हॉल में एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया। इस आयोजन का उद्देश्य लिंग समानता पर चर्चा करने और स्टीरियोटाइप्स को तोड़ना था! 

इन्निसफिल इंडियन एसोसिएशन की उपाध्यक्ष, सुदेशना साहू ने संगठन के मिशन को उजागर किया जिसमें भारतीय संस्कृति को संरक्षित करना, समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देना, और विविध समुदाय को एकत्रित करना  शामिल है। साहू भारत में एक संयुक्त पारिवारिक वातावरण में पली-बढ़ी है। उससे उन्हें महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण प्रेरणा मिली है। 

इन्निसफिल इंडियन एसोसिएशन ने इस समारोह के मुख्य वक्ता के रूप में यूनाइटेड वे की पूर्व CEO और अध्यक्ष, भावना वर्मा को आमंत्रित किया था।

भारत में पली-बढ़ी वर्मा ने बताया कि बालपन में मिली समानता ने उन्हें कनाडा में सफल बनने में मदद की।उन्होंने भारत से कनाडा तक की अपनी यात्रा, एक आप्रवासी के रूप में सामना की गई चुनौतियों, और यूनाइटेड वे में उनकी सफलता की कहानी सुनाई। वर्मा ने कनाडा में अनुभव की गई असमानताओं और micro-aggressions माइक्रोएग्रेसन्स पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने पूर्वाग्रह के खिलाफ निरंतर लड़ाई और महिलाओं के मुद्दों को संबोधित करने में एकजुटता की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
