Recognition of Shahram Nazeri, Iran's 'Knight of the Songs,' in Vancouver
On June 4th, in a heartwarming ceremony organized by Farhad Soofi, the Iranian singing master Shahram Nazeri, often celebrated as Iran's 'Knight of the Songs,' was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation from two esteemed Canadian government officials. This special event took place at the office of Fin Donnelly, Member of Parliament, and was attended by a host of social and artistic activists who gathered to celebrate Nazeri's exceptional contributions to music and culture.
The certificate read, "It is our honour to acknowledge your exceptional contributions to Persian and Kurdish music. Your pioneering integration of Rumi's poetry and dedication to Sufi music have enriched the cultural heritage of Iran and the world." This tribute underscores the significant impact Nazeri has had on preserving, promoting and touting the rich traditions of both Persian and Kurdish music through his masterful blending of Rumi's poetic works with Sufi musical traditions.
In addition to this amazing recognition from Members of Parliament Fin Donnelly and Bonita Zarrillo, Member of Parliament and, Deputy of Port Moody-Coquitlam, also presented a certificate of appreciation to Master Shahram Nazeri. Both officials praised Nazeri for his tireless dedication to his art and his role in enriching the global cultural landscape.
This incredible recognition in Vancouver highlights the far-reaching influence of Shahram Nazeri's work, honouring his legacy and contributions that transcend cultural and geographical boundaries.
