The Regent Park SDP Planning Committee serves as a vital planning and coordinating body for the Regent Park Social Development Plan. This community-wide network is focused on key areas such as employment, community building, safety, and effective communication. The committee's role is crucial in ensuring the successful implementation and coordination of initiatives that benefit the Regent Park community.

On June 13, 2024, the SDP Planning Committee held an in-camera (private) discussion. This discussion centred on an agenda item involving a decision by the SDP Stakeholders Table, which had requested the city to release funds. Despite a lengthy and detailed discussion on the matter, the group was unable to reach a decision currently. The complexity of the issue required further deliberation and consideration before any final decision could be made

The next major item discussed at the meeting was the funding for Sunday-In-the-Park, an annual festival that celebrates Regent Park. During the meeting, members were informed that the Sunday-In-the-Park committee, a sub-committee of the Community Building Working Group, had recently submitted a business case to the city for partial funding of this year's festival. In addition to requesting city funding, a proposal was made to the planning committee to hold one less Stakeholders Table meeting and instead divert $1,250.00 of those funds towards Sunday in the Park. After a brief discussion, the group unanimously decided not to divert the funds.

It remains unclear how the Sunday-In-the-Park festival, scheduled for August, will proceed without major funding from the city or a significant donation from another source. The lack of a clear funding solution poses a challenge to the festival's organizers and the community's expectations.
