Genevieve Kyle-Lefebvre – Local Journalism Initiative

What began as an intimate gathering in Genevieve Kyle-Lefebvre’s living room has blossomed into a thriving community of over 600 moms in the Tri-Cities, in 2017. She teamed up with Heather Fox to expand their reach by launching the Mom Talk Podcast. The podcast became an extension of the popular lunches, providing moms across the Tri-Cities—and beyond—with practical parenting advice and support.

After being interviewed by the 2 Hosts, Becca Yu-Lewis joined the team, bringing new energy and ideas to the growing community. Together, the trio has taken the podcast to new heights, celebrating a major milestone: the 200th podcast episode. “Starting the podcast felt like a natural progression,” says Genevieve.

“We wanted to reach more moms who couldn’t always make it to the lunches and give them the same sense of connection and support.” The podcast, now bilingual with episodes in English and French, features expert guests discussing topics like mental health, parenting, and community resources.

On October 21st, the Mom Talk team is set to host a special Mom Lunch at Poirier Library in Coquitlam, in partnership with United Way and the Coquitlam Library. These free events, which had paused during the pandemic, are returning to offer mothers a chance to connect in person once again. “We’re thrilled to bring back these lunches that so many moms love,” says Heather.

“It’s not just about sharing stories—it’s about building a real community.” As they look to the future, Genevieve, Heather, and Becca hope to continue growing the Mom Talk network, empowering local mothers to start their own meetups and deepen connections across the region. Through their podcast, lunches, and ongoing community events, the Mom Talk team remains dedicated to supporting and uplifting Tri-Cities moms on their parenting journey.
