Delia Cooper, an inspiring figure within the Tri-Cities community, has dedicated herself to improving the lives of individuals affected by arthritis. As a leader in the Tri-Cities Arthritis Society, Delia works tirelessly to raise awareness about arthritis and its impact, especially in a community where nearly one in five people live with some form of the condition. During our interview, Delia shared her passion for building a supportive network that not only educates but also empowers individuals to manage their health effectively.
“Arthritis isn’t just about joint pain; it affects every aspect of a person’s life,” Delia explained. “Our goal at the Tri-Cities Arthritis Society is to provide the resources people need to feel supported and informed.”
Through workshops, group meetings, and community events, Delia and her team have created spaces for people to connect, share their experiences, and learn new ways to cope. One of the Society’s most impactful initiatives has been its Arthritis Education Program, where participants receive guidance on managing symptoms, exploring treatment options, and improving their quality of life. Delia emphasized that the Society’s work goes beyond education, focusing on community-building to reduce isolation and encourage a sense of belonging.
When asked about future goals, Delia spoke passionately about expanding outreach to younger people with arthritis. “There’s a misconception that arthritis only affects the elderly, but we have a growing number of young people dealing with it. We want them to feel seen and supported,” she said.
Delia’s dedication to the Tri-Cities Arthritis Society has not only raised awareness but has also brought people together, fostering a community where individuals feel empowered to face arthritis head-on. Her impact in the Tri-Cities is evident, and her work continues to create a ripple effect, helping people live with strength, resilience, and hope.
