Vancouver’s Persian-speaking community celebrated the launch of Ariasavings, a financial institution designed to meet their unique cultural and economic needs. Spearheaded by Mehran AazamiFard, a banking professional with over three decades of experience, the initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of culturally sensitive services in Canada’s multicultural cities.

Mehran AazamiFard shared her personal journey, which began as a refugee before settling in Canada. She recounted her early struggles with navigating the banking system and the challenges newcomers face in understanding credit systems and opening accounts in a foreign language. Her career, which spans years in both major Canadian banks and credit unions, became a foundation for her vision: creating a financial institution that bridges these gaps for Persian-speaking immigrants.

“I saw how difficult it was for people like me, arriving with limited English and no familiarity with Canadian banking,” AazamiFard said. “I wanted to create a space where language and culture are not barriers to financial independence.”

The launch event brought together leaders from various fields, highlighting Ariasavings' broader significance. Linda Buchanan, Mayor of North Vancouver, emphasized the institution’s role in fostering inclusivity:
