The King Charles III Coronation Medal Ceremony took place in North Vancouver, honoring outstanding community members for their contributions to British Columbia and Canada. Hosted on behalf of the Government of Canada, the event was attended by local dignitaries, including Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), city representatives, and North Vancouver's Member of Parliament, Jonathan Wilkinson.

The ceremony began with Cynthia Bunbury, constituency director for MP Wilkinson, serving as the master of ceremonies. She welcomed guests and acknowledged the presence of local leaders, including MLA Susie Chant, MLA Bowen Ma, and North Vancouver District Mayor Mike Little.

MP Jonathan Wilkinson addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of the Coronation Medal as a historic tradition recognizing individuals who contribute meaningfully to their communities. He acknowledged that the event was taking place on the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam First Nations, reinforcing the importance of Indigenous reconciliation in Canada.

The awards were presented in alphabetical order, highlighting the achievements of recipients from various fields, including emergency management, Indigenous advocacy, public service, environmental sustainability, military service, and community leadership. Among the honorees were:

Troy Abromaitis, a survivor of the Sixties Scoop and founder of Indigenous Survivors Day, recognized for his contributions to Indigenous community development and cultural resilience.

Maryam Antikchi, co-founder of Ecoation Innovative Solutions Inc., acknowledged for her advancements in agricultural technology and sustainability.

Montgomery Black, a retired sergeant of the Canadian Forces, celebrated for his service and contributions to search and rescue operations.

Nassreen Filsoof, a registered nurse and advocate for immigrant education and community support.

Robert Walton, former mayor of North Vancouver, recognized for his dedication to public service and Indigenous relations.

Many recipients were military veterans, emergency responders, and volunteers who dedicated their careers to protecting and serving their communities. The ceremony also recognized individuals who have contributed to social justice, environmental initiatives, and the well-being of marginalized groups.

The ceremony not only celebrated individual achievements but also underscored the collective efforts that make North Vancouver a strong and compassionate community.
