Patrick Albert from the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) presented a request for a contract adjustment to support salary increases amid workforce challenges. He explained that an additional $19,000 annually would help retain staff and reduce turnover. Council acknowledged the request and agreed to consider it.

Maddie Fromm of Food Cycle Science proposed a second round of a food waste reduction pilot program. The initial program in 2021 was successful, generating community interest in a renewed effort. She outlined the benefits of the FoodCycler, a device that converts food waste into nutrient-rich material. The proposed pilot would involve 50 households, with costs shared between the company, the municipality, and residents.

Council reviewed and approved the 2025 interim tax levy by-law, expected to generate approximately $1.989 million in tax revenue. The first tax installment is due on March 31, with the second due on April 30.

The discussion then shifted to the Active Transportation Fund, with a proposal to revitalize and expand the township’s multi-use pathway. The plan includes resurfacing existing paths, creating new connections to key areas, and adding infrastructure improvements such as drainage and potential lighting. Council supported applying for funding, with an estimated total project cost of $1.675 million.

The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss cybersecurity, contract negotiations for water and wastewater operations, and legal matters concerning Superior North.
